INTERVIEWS: SHOULD I DRESS FOR SUCCESS?

INTERVIEWS: SHOULD I DRESS FOR SUCCESS?

Yes but.... When an interviewee meets a professional interviewer, the interviewer will probably not 'judge a book by its cover' even though they may be strongly tempted to do so.

When an interviewee meets an interviewer who doesn't do it for a living, the interviewer probably will 'judge the book by its cover' even though they know they shouldn't do so.

On the other side of the coin, the interviewee may 'dress for success' and indeed should do so, depending on the nature of the role they are applying for.

However, irrespective of whether it's a face-to-face or a remote interview, it's the smile, the body language, the facial expression, the attitude and not what is said but how it is said that leads to success.

Yes the clothes need to be 'interview appropriate' but if the attitudinal aspects of the interviewee's behaviour are not correct the clothes will count for nothing.
