Why should I have a written career objective?

Why should I have a written career objective?

The whole of your working life is predicated on the written word. Minutes of meetings; action points; business plans; annual goals; interim milestones; daily tick lists; financial forecasts; monthly targets; the list goes on.

Why? Because businesses realise that something written down is much more likely to happen than something that relies solely on memory.

Yet why do so few of us follow this principle in our own lives? The closest most of us ever get to this ideal is perhaps to spend six months planning a two week summer holiday, yet we don’t spend even two weeks planning what we are going to do with the rest of our working lives.

Maybe it’s time to define a written career objective that sets out how you’d like your working life to evolve and develop. #proteuscareermanagement #careerobjectives #careeradvice #careerguidance #personaldevelopment
