Ego’s undeserved bad reputation.

Ego’s undeserved bad reputation.

A few days ago I commented on LinkedIn on an excellent post by Peter Robson and a great comment by Simon Scantlebury. I’ve reflected on these ideas from Peter and Simon and feel the theme is worth repeating and developing further.

In my view the link between the conscious and subconscious minds is well worth exploring: it is, I believe, a major key to a person’s sense of identity and hence their self belief without which it is impossible to succeed.

Part of the problem, as implied by Peter’s post, and supported by my own belief, is that ego has an undeserved bad reputation.

To my mind one has to have a high ego in order to be successful - but it needs to be an ego that is under control, an ego that is combined with a high level of emotional intelligence.

Firm without being arrogant, assertive without being aggressive, supportive without being patronising, determined without being stubborn.

If you have any additional thoughts on this subject I’d love to hear them.
